The main medications used to treat Cough & Cold symptoms are:  Painkillers – such as Paracetamol and Ibuprofen - which can help relieve aches and a high temperature (fever).  Decongestants – which may help relieve a blocked nose and relieve congestion.

A "dry cough" means it's tickly and doesn't produce any phlegm (thick mucus).  A "chesty cough" means phlegm is produced to help clear your airways.
